Overview

Buddy Visalo, a blue-collar dreamer whose crooning ambitions fizzled long ago, keeps chasing get-rich-quick schemes. His latest gamble: buying a two-family house with his wife, Estelle, and turning the ground floor into a bar where he can finally shine. But the deal comes with baggage—upstairs tenants Mary, a pregnant Irish newcomer, and her abusive, alcoholic husband, Jim. When Buddy’s Italian crew gets tangled in their chaos, Mary goes into labor. The birth forces everyone to face how far their kindness and patience can stretch.
