Biography
Elmer Bradley Johnson, born on July 23, 1924, and passing away on April 4, 1981, was a notable American actor known for his contributions to film and television during the mid-20th century. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Deputy Lofty Craig on the popular 1950s Western series, *Annie Oakley*. Johnson's versatility as an actor allowed him to take on various roles, including a memorable appearance as “Laskin” in the *Gunsmoke* episode titled “Cattle Barons” (Season 13, Episode 2). Additionally, he was part of the inaugural episode of *Death Valley Days* in 1952, portraying the character Louis Manley.
Throughout his career, Johnson appeared in several films, often in uncredited roles. His filmography includes titles such as *Call Me Mister* (1951), *Bedtime for Bonzo* (1951), and *Calamity Jane* (1953). He also featured in *The Lady Wants Mink* (1953) and *The Buccaneer* (1958), among others.
Educated at the University of Southern California, Johnson's acting career spanned from 1950 until 1967, after which he transitioned into real estate development. He was married to Adele Cook Johnson from 1950 until his death and had two children. Johnson's legacy remains in the hearts of classic television enthusiasts and Western genre fans alike.
