John Benedict Hillerman (December 20, 1932 – November 9, 2017) was a prominent American actor celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on the hit television series Magnum, P.I., which ran from 1980 to 1988. His exceptional performance as Higgins earned him critical acclaim, including five nominations for the Golden Globe Awards, with a win in 1981. Additionally, Hillerman was nominated for four Emmy Awards, securing one in 1987 for his outstanding work.
Hillerman's refined demeanor and distinctive voice made him a memorable figure in television, allowing him to stand out alongside co-stars Tom Selleck and Roger E. Mosley. Originally from Denison, Texas, Hillerman trained at the University of Texas, prior to pursuing a career in acting in New York City.
