Episode Overview

After his wife's brutal murder at the hands of infamous gangster Joe Webster, Inspector George Gently contemplates stepping down from his role. However, when a killing in Northumberland bears Webster's signature, Gently decides to postpone his retirement to pursue this final investigation. Teaming up with local detective DS John Bacchus, he embarks on a mission to hunt down Webster, all while grappling with the challenges of managing his impulsive young partner and steering him in the right direction.
