The Count of Monte Cristo

Overview
The 1956 television adaptation of *The Count of Monte Cristo*, produced by ITC Entertainment and TPA, took considerable liberties with Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel. Written by Sidney Marshall, the series first aired in the UK in early 1956, spanning 39 half-hour episodes. The initial dozen episodes were shot in the US at Hal Roach studios, while the remainder were filmed at ITC’s usual Elstree location. On 12 April 2010, Network Studio released a 5-disc DVD set featuring all episodes. ITC later revisited the story with a 1975 film of the same name.
