Episode Overview

Twins Brandon and Brenda start their new life at the fashionable West Beverly High after relocating from Minnesota. Brandon decides to join the school newspaper and quickly meets Andrea Zuckerman, the passionate and smart editor. Meanwhile, Brenda befriends the elitist Kelly, who chooses her as a chemistry partner to dodge working with someone less desirable. A wealthy but introverted girl throws a party for the whole school—except the freshmen—featuring a live rock band. Freshmen David and Scott sneak in, and when a drunken Steve asks David for a ride home, an accident occurs, leading Steve on a desperate hunt for the driver. Brandon strikes up a romance with the hostess, Marianne, and suggests they were intimate, sparking gossip around school. Feeling let down, Andrea confronts him, but Brandon tries to set the record straight over the radio. He later follows Andrea home and learns she lives outside the school district. Meanwhile, Brenda and her friends get hold of fake IDs.
