Under cover of night, Tendril strikes, leveling the Earth Corps base and driving the team into a desperate chase beneath the planet's crust. Even with the rock-skinned Granites as allies, they're forced to retreat to the surface. When Senator Masterson—a pawn of Blackthorne Shore—slashes their funding, Sandra Shore, Blackthorne's sister, exposes her brother's scheme to free Metlar. With her backing, the crew builds new rigs and descends again, tracking D'Compose and Tendril to the Granite city. A fierce clash frees Metlar from Magnokor's grip, but Blackthorne arrives in a stolen battle-suit, using magnetic powers against the tyrant—until Tendril intervenes, and Sandra falls to D'Compose's mutating touch.
