Who Do You Think You Are? (2008) S01E03 - Geoffrey Robertson
S01E03 Geoffrey Robertson
Episode Overview
Geoffrey Robertson ranks among Australia's most notable expats. A human rights lawyer based in the UK and sometimes host of Hypotheticals, he's rubbed shoulders with the celebrated and the notorious since bursting onto London's swinging sixties to defend the Oz magazine obscenity trial. "People often tell me, 'You Australians are so refreshing' — which really means, 'Get lost, you loud-mouthed colonial.'" A true self-made man, his incisive legal brain dismisses the nature-versus-nurture argument outright; genetics have no place in his thinking. Yet while tracing his ancestry on Who Do You Think You Are?, he uncovers striking parallels with the expatriate lives of his ancestors. Is he descended from a royal bastard or a cunning entrepreneur? The verdict remains uncertain.
