The series embraces familiar aspects from classic films, featuring the beloved chimp Cheeta, but notably omits Jane as part of a fresh take on the legendary figure. Producer Sy Weintraub had previously introduced this new interpretation in earlier films starring Gordon Scott, Jock Mahoney, and Mike Henry. The show’s episodes saw a revival when CBS aired reruns in the summer of 1969, offering audiences a chance to rediscover Tarzan's adventures.
