Episode Overview
The backstory of Richard Alpert unfolds as we learn he arrived on the island in 1867 aboard the Black Rock as a slave. He strikes a bargain with Jacob, agreeing to become his representative in return for eternal life. Fast forward to the present, Hurley persuades Richard to assist the candidates in taking Jacob’s place and preventing the Man in Black from escaping the Island.
