After resettling in Ottawa, a Rwandan family works to rebuild their lives from the ground up. But when their mother's health suddenly deteriorates, teenage Akai finds himself thrust into the role of caretaker for his younger sister, Zera. Navigating school, new friendships, and the weight of responsibility, Akai must balance his own adolescence with keeping their fragile household together.
