Overview

Gilbert Valence, a 76-year-old Parisian actor, finds his carefully ordered life shattered when a car accident claims his wife, daughter, and son-in-law. Now responsible for his orphaned grandson, he tries to maintain his acting routine, but the parts he's offered—a flashy TV gig and a chaotic last-minute role in an English-language adaptation of Joyce's *Ulysses*—make it clear that his time on stage has come to an end.
