Overview

Swedish director Mikael Kristersson crafts a starkly poetic experimental documentary centered on two European falcons. Filmed across two years, the piece weaves a minimalist narrative, relying purely on imagery—no voice-overs or musical score. The falcons hunt and dutifully guard their eggs, yet much of the runtime soars from their lofty perspective atop a 13th-century church spire. From that height, viewers watch a groundskeeper tending the village cemetery and choirboys wearying during a lengthy religious procession.
