Overview

Dr. Kemal runs a private hospital and dreams bigger—he sees himself as the natural choice for mayor of Istanbul's Beyoglu district. His ambitions, however, meet resistance everywhere: from his skeptical ex-wife, from voters who happily accept his free meals and drinks, from a party leader who still mistakes him for an architect, and even from his loyal chauffeur. His campaign slogan, "the doctor has the cure," rings hollow when he fails to grasp just how deeply entrenched the city's political cronyism truly runs.
