Staples, a prosperous plant manager from Ohio, arrives in New York to assume an executive role at Ramsey & Co. He quickly bonds with Briggs, the seasoned vice president. However, tensions rise as Walter Ramsey, the new CEO, covertly sets Staples up as Briggs’ successor. Instead of outright firing Briggs, Ramsey resorts to underhanded tactics to undermine him, creating a toxic atmosphere aimed at forcing Briggs’ resignation. As the power struggle intensifies, Staples grapples with his loyalty to his mentor versus his ambition for advancement.
