Biography

Dame Jane Morris Goodall DBE (originally Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall, born 3 April 1934 – passed away 1 October 2025), previously known as Baroness Jane van Lawick-Goodall, was a renowned English primatologist and anthropologist. Widely recognized as the leading authority on chimpanzees, Goodall gained global acclaim for her groundbreaking research, which spanned over 55 years, in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania.

Her pioneering studies revolutionized our understanding of chimpanzee behavior, demonstrating their capacity for tool use, complex social structures, and emotional depth, fundamentally altering the perception of these remarkable primates. Goodall’s influential work has inspired numerous conservation efforts and has raised awareness about the importance of environmental preservation.
