Yoko Asagami
Biography
Yoko Asagami (麻上 洋子, Asagami Yōko), born on July 10, 1952, in Otaru, Hokkaido, is a prominent Japanese voice actress affiliated with Aksent. She is widely recognized for her memorable performances, particularly as Yuki Mori in the classic anime series "Space Battleship Yamato" and as Saeko Nogami in "City Hunter." In her personal life, she is known as Yōko Ōkubo (大久保 洋子, Ōkubo Yōko) after marriage.
In 1992, Yoko ventured into the world of traditional Japanese storytelling, or kōdan, under the tutelage of master Teisui Ichiryūsai (一龍斎 貞水). Demonstrating remarkable talent and dedication, she gained acclaim in the art, eventually becoming a celebrated kōdanshi by 2004. In her storytelling performances, she adopts the artistic name Harumi Ichiryūsai (一龍斎 春水).
Yoko Asagami's contributions to both voice acting and traditional storytelling highlight her versatility as an artist. She remains a respected figure in the entertainment industry, celebrated for her ability to bring characters to life and preserve the rich heritage of Japanese storytelling.
