Billy Howle
Biography
Billy Howle was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England, into a family with a strong educational background—his mother was a schoolteacher, and his father taught at Kent University. As the second of four brothers, Billy grew up alongside his older sibling, Sam, who works as a graphic designer. Although his parents emphasized the importance of education, Billy chose a different path, opting to engage in local theater at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, where he participated in community-driven dance and acting projects.
His formal training began with a year at drama school, followed by enrollment in the esteemed Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, from which he graduated in 2013. During his time at Bristol, he performed in productions like 'The Little Mermaid,' and soon made his way to the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, starring opposite Lesley Manville in Richard Eyre's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's 'Ghosts.' He later reunited with Ms. Manville and Bristol Old Vic in the acclaimed 'Long Day's Journey Into Night,' sharing the stage with Jeremy Irons and Hadley Fraser.
Billy's breakthrough in television came with the youth-oriented mystery series 'Glue' in 2014, where he infamously opened the show by rolling nude in a barn. He continued to gain recognition with roles in 'The Witness for the Prosecution' (2016) and ventured into film with projects like 'On Chesil Beach' (2017) and 'The Seagull' (2018), both alongside Saoirse Ronan.
