Biography

Anita Strindberg, originally named Anita Edberg, is a celebrated former Swedish actress renowned for her prominent role in the Italian giallo film genre during the 1970s.

Strindberg’s foray into the world of giallo began with Lucio Fulci’s 1971 film, "Una lucertola con la pelle di donna" ("A Lizard in a Woman's Skin"). That same year, she landed her first leading role in "La coda dello scorpione" ("Case of the Scorpion's Tail"), directed by Sergio Martino. The following year, she continued to make her mark with standout performances in Aldo Lado's "Chi l'ha vista morire?" ("Who Saw Her Die?"), which featured George Lazenby, as well as in Martino's "Il tuo vizio è una stanza chiusa e solo io ne ho la chiave" ("Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key"), alongside Edwige Fenech and Luigi Pistilli.

Beyond giallo, Strindberg diversified her filmography by acting in various genre films, including the women-in-prison movie "Diario segreto da un carcere femminile" ("Women in Cell Block 7"), the horror film "L'anticristo" ("The Antichrist"), which drew parallels to "The Exorcist," and the poliziotteschi film "Milano odia: la polizia non può sparare" ("Almost Human"), directed by Umberto Lenzi. Her cinematic journey culminated in her final feature, "Murder Obsession" (also known as "Follia Omicida"), directed by Riccardo Freda and co-starring Laura Gemser.
