Tim Minchin
Biography
Tim Minchin is a multifaceted Australian talent, known for his roles as a musician, actor, comedian, and writer. He first captivated audiences with his distinctive musical comedy at the Butterfly Club in South Melbourne in 2005. His breakthrough came with his acclaimed show Darkside, which earned him the Director’s Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. That same year, he made waves at the Edinburgh Fringe, winning the prestigious Perrier Award for Best Newcomer.
Since those early days, Tim has enjoyed a successful career, performing live shows across Australia, the UK, and North America, though he humorously notes that Guatemala remains untouched—perhaps for another time. His diverse repertoire tackles themes such as environmentalism, rational thought, and social prejudices, all delivered with a comedic twist that often celebrates the quirks of life, including his humorous admiration for breasts.
Tim's energetic performances feature his piano skills, as he dazzles audiences in stylishly tight jeans. His television credits include appearances on shows like Good News Week in Australia and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in the UK. Recently, he wrote and starred in a comedy sitcom pilot for BBC Radio 2 titled Strings. Additionally, his renowned beat poem Storm is set to be animated for release in October. Tim is currently composing music and lyrics for the stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda, premiering in Stratford-upon-Avon in November 2010. He resides in London with his wife and their two young children.
