Biography
Donald Gibb, born on August 4, 1954, is an American actor renowned for his towering 6-foot-4 stature and unforgettable role as "Ogre" in the beloved Revenge of the Nerds film series. Hailing from California, Gibb initially pursued athletics, earning a basketball scholarship to the University of New Mexico, where he later joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He continued his sports career at the University of San Diego, playing football before a brief stint with the San Diego Chargers.
Gibb’s acting career took off with minor roles in films like Stripes and Conan the Barbarian. However, it was his portrayal of the brutish fraternity brother in Revenge of the Nerds (1984) and its sequels—Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987) and Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love (1994)—that solidified his status in pop culture. He brought humor to the role, showcasing antics like chugging beer from a trophy and competing in belching contests.
In addition to his iconic character, Gibb starred as Ray Jackson in the martial arts classic Bloodsport (1988) alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme and reprised the role in its sequel. His television credits include a prominent role in the long-running HBO series 1st & Ten, along with guest appearances in shows like Quantum Leap and MacGyver.
Beyond acting, Gibb co-owns Trader Todd's, a brewery in Chicago, where he promotes Ogre beer, inspired by his famous character. He also features in the Capital One commercial series, showcasing his comedic flair.
