Michael Byrne, born in London, England, has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry, particularly known for his portrayals in military and historical roles. He gained prominence for his performance as Colonel Vogel in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," and as Major Schroeder in "Force 10 from Navarone." His impressive repertoire includes characters such as Reinhard Beck in "The Scarlet and the Black" and General Olbricht in "The Plot to Kill Hitler." Notably, he voiced Obergruppenführer Odilo Globocnik in the BBC radio adaptation of Robert Harris's novel "Fatherland."

Byrne's versatility is evident in his role as a Jewish concentration camp survivor in "Apt Pupil," where he confronts a Nazi war criminal played by Ian McKellen.
