Biography
Alan Oppenheimer, born on April 23, 1930, is a prominent American actor celebrated for his extensive work in film and voice acting. His film credits include iconic titles such as In the Heat of the Night (1967), Westworld (1973), Freaky Friday (1976), Private Benjamin (1980), The NeverEnding Story (1984), 9 (2009), Foxcatcher (2014), and Toy Story 4 (2019).
Oppenheimer graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1951, marking the beginning of his acting journey in the 1950s. He rose to fame in the 1960s, establishing himself as a versatile character actor. His television career includes memorable roles such as a Nazi on "Hogan's Heroes," an Israeli secret agent and double-agent scientist on "Get Smart," and Dr. Rudy Wells in "The Six Million Dollar Man." Additionally, he portrayed Mickey Malph, the father of Ralph Malph, on "Happy Days," and had prominent roles in "St. Elsewhere" and "Mama's Family." Oppenheimer also made guest appearances in various "Star Trek" series, taking on different characters each time. He received an Emmy Award nomination in 1991 for his guest appearance on "Murphy Brown."
Beyond live-action performances, Oppenheimer has enjoyed a successful voice acting career since the 1970s. He is well-known for voicing iconic characters in animated series, including Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, and Mer-Man in "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," as well as Ming the Merciless in "The New Adventures of Flash Gordon." His voice talent has also been featured in "The Transformers," "Ghostbusters," and many other series.
