Biography

Ulrich Thomsen, born on December 6, 1963, is a prominent Danish actor and filmmaker recognized for his portrayal of Christian in the acclaimed 1998 film, The Celebration, and as Kai Proctor in the Cinemax series Banshee, which aired from 2013 to 2016.

Thomsen hails from Næsby, Odense, Denmark, and completed his education at the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance in 1993. Following his graduation, he took to the stage in various theaters across Copenhagen, including Dr Dantes Aveny, Mungo Park, and Østre Gasværks Teater.

His cinematic journey began with his debut in the 1994 thriller Nightwatch, directed by Ole Bornedal. Over the years, he has taken on numerous roles, featuring in films such as Thomas Vinterberg's The Biggest Heroes (1996), Susanne Bier's Sekten (1997), and Anders Thomas Jensen's Flickering Lights (2000). His career breakthrough came with The Celebration, followed by a significant role as henchman Sasha Davidov in the 1999 James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough, which propelled him to international fame.

Thomsen's diverse filmography includes the 2002 English-language film Killing Me Softly and a notable performance as the villain Jonas Skarssen in Tom Tykwer's The International (2009). His tenure on Banshee saw him embody the lead antagonist from 2013 to 2016. Fluent in Danish, German, and English, Thomsen is also a committed vegan.
