Biography

Jennifer Warren, born on August 12, 1941, in Greenwich Village, New York City, is a distinguished American actress and film director. Raised in a creative household as the daughter of actress Paula Bauersmith and dentist Barnet M. Warren, she was influenced by her uncle, Yiddish theatre actor Jacob Ben-Ami. After completing her education at Elisabeth Irwin High School, Warren embarked on a remarkable career in the performing arts.

Warren made her Broadway debut in 1972 with the play "6 Rms Riv Vu," earning the Theatre World Award for her performance. She also featured in the brief run of "P.S. Your Cat Is Dead!" Her filmography boasts a variety of roles, including the notable part of the exasperated wife in "Slap Shot," alongside Paul Newman, as well as appearances in "Night Moves," "Ice Castles," "The Swap" (1969), and "Life Stinks." In addition to acting, Warren has directed two feature films: "The Beans of Egypt, Maine" (1994) and "Partners in Crime" (2000). Her talents were recognized in 1975 when she was named one of the twelve "Promising New Actors" in John Willis' Screen World.

Warren's television work is extensive, featuring in numerous telefilms and guest roles on popular shows including "The Bob Newhart Show," "Kojak," "Cagney and Lacey," and "Murder, She Wrote." In 1976, she married producer Roger Gimbel, and they welcomed a son, Barney, who followed a career in writing and editing. Gimbel passed away on April 26, 2011, leaving behind a legacy of artistic collaboration.
