Biography
Ken Gampu, born on August 28, 1929, in Germiston, South Africa, and who passed away on November 4, 2003, in Vosloorus, was a distinguished South African actor known for his impactful performances. Prior to embarking on his acting journey, Gampu held a variety of roles including that of a physical training instructor, salesman, interpreter, and police officer, showcasing his versatile skills.
His entry into the acting world was marked by his role in Athol Fugard's poignant play, No Good Friday, in 1958. However, it was in 1965 that he truly gained recognition with his performance in the film Dingaka, directed by Jamie Uys. This role served as a significant turning point in his career. That same year, Gampu further solidified his status as a talented actor by appearing in Cornel Wilde's adventure film, The Naked Prey, which highlighted his ability to navigate complex characters and challenging narratives.
