Lex Barker, born on May 8, 1919, and passing on May 11, 1973, was a prominent American actor renowned for his portrayals of iconic characters, most notably Tarzan. His embodiment of the legendary ape-man in several films during the 1950s cemented his status as a leading figure in adventure cinema.
Barker's career took off in the early 1940s when he transitioned from modeling to acting, making his film debut in "The Great John L." (1945). However, it was his role as Tarzan in films such as "Tarzan's Magic Fountain" (1949) and "Tarzan's Peril" (1951) that truly defined his legacy. He brought a rugged charm and athleticism to the character, captivating audiences with his physical performances.
In addition to his work as Tarzan, Barker earned acclaim for his roles in adaptations of Karl May's novels, portraying the heroic figure of Old Shatterhand in a series of popular German Westerns.
