Vonetta Lawrence McGee (January 14, 1945 – July 9, 2010) was a talented American actress whose career spanned several influential genres of film. She made her mark in cinema with her first appearance in the Spaghetti Western "The Great Silence," a film that showcased her strong screen presence. McGee became a prominent figure in the blaxploitation genre, featuring in notable films such as "Hammer," "Melinda," "Blacula," and "Shaft in Africa." Her collaboration with then-partner Max Julien in the 1974 film "Thomasine & Bushrod" further solidified her status as a leading actress of her time.
McGee's versatility was evident when she starred alongside Clint Eastwood in the 1975 action-thriller "The Eiger Sanction," revealing her ability to cross into mainstream Hollywood projects. In addition to her film work, she found success on television, playing the role of Mimi Shaw in the 1987 sitcom "Bustin' Loose," which aired for one season.
