David Bruce
Biography
David Bruce, originally named Marden Andrew McBroom, was an American actor born on January 6, 1914, in Kankakee, Illinois. He gained recognition for his haunting portrayal of Ted Allison in the film The Mad Ghoul. In 1939, Bruce became a member of the Peninsula Players Theatre located in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, showcasing his theatrical talent.
His career took a significant turn in 1940 when he signed a contract with Warner Brothers, marking the beginning of his journey in the film industry. A graduate of Northwestern University, he featured in numerous films throughout the 1940s. Over the course of his career, which he concluded in 1955, Bruce appeared in more than 60 films. Some of his notable works include Flying Tigers (1942), Christmas Holiday (1944), and Lady on a Train (1945). Standing tall at 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 meters), he made a lasting impact on audiences during his time on screen.
Despite his successful acting career, Bruce made the decision to step away from the industry in 1955, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances. He passed away on May 3, 1976, but remains remembered for his contributions to the world of film.
