Biography
Takuya Kimura (Japanese: 木村 拓哉, Hepburn: Kimura Takuya), born on November 13, 1972, is a prominent Japanese actor, singer, and radio host who has solidified his status as a cultural icon in Japan. He gained widespread fame as a member of SMAP, one of Asia's most successful boy bands.
In 1996, Kimura starred in the television drama series *Long Vacation*, which marked his first leading role and achieved staggering success, giving rise to the "Lon-bake phenomenon." His remarkable ability to attract viewers earned him the nickname "The King of Ratings," as each of his subsequent series consistently garnered high viewership and created significant social discussions. Notably, five of his dramas rank among Japan's top ten most-watched series, with his 2001 show *Hero* standing out as the most popular. Kimura has also appeared in several highly regarded films, including *Love and Honor* (2006), *Hero* (2007), and he provided the voice for a character in Studio Ghibli's *Howl's Moving Castle* (2004).
Additionally, Kimura expanded his artistic repertoire by taking on roles in video games, notably portraying Takayuki Yagami in the critically acclaimed series *Judgment* and *Lost Judgment*. His multifaceted career continues to captivate audiences in Japan and beyond.
