Lars Ulrich, a distinguished Danish musician and co-founder of the iconic heavy metal band Metallica, has made a significant impact on the music industry as a drummer, songwriter, record producer, and podcaster. Born into a sports-oriented family—his father Torben Ulrich was a professional tennis player and his grandfather Einer Ulrich also played tennis—Lars initially pursued a career in the sport. At just 16, he relocated to Los Angeles with aspirations of becoming a professional tennis player but ultimately found his true calling in music.

Ulrich's journey in music took a pivotal turn when he responded to a classified ad in The Recycler, leading him to meet guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield. This collaboration birthed Metallica, which has since become one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history. Together, Ulrich and Hetfield have co-written nearly all of Metallica's extensive discography, contributing to numerous chart-topping albums and classic tracks.
