Biography
Frederick Charles Willard, born on September 18, 1933, and passing away on May 15, 2020, was a distinguished American actor, comedian, and voice artist celebrated for his exceptional improvisational comedic talents. He gained recognition for his performances in a series of Christopher Guest’s mockumentary films, including This is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. Willard also appeared in the television series D.C. Follies, showcasing his unique comedic style.
An esteemed member of The Second City comedy troupe, he honed his craft in improvisational theater before making his mark in film and television. Throughout his career, Willard earned three Emmy nominations for his memorable portrayal of Hank MacDougall, the father-in-law of Robert Barone, on the popular sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
