Rosa Salazar

Biography

Rosa Salazar (born July 16, 1985) is a talented American actress best known for her dynamic performances in film and television. She gained recognition through roles in the NBC drama Parenthood (2011–2012) and the FX anthology series American Horror Story: Murder House (2011). Salazar's big break came when she starred as the titular character in the sci-fi film Alita: Battle Angel (2019), which solidified her status in Hollywood. Additionally, she co-produced and starred in the Netflix series Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021).

Salazar's filmography includes appearances in The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018). She also showcased her talent in the Netflix films The Kindergarten Teacher (2018) and Bird Box (2018). From 2019 to 2022, she starred in the Amazon series Undone.

Born in Washington, D.C., to Luis, a Peruvian father, and Marilynne, a French-Canadian mother, Salazar grew up in D.C. and Greenbelt, Maryland. Her passion for acting sparked at the age of fifteen, leading her to pursue drama studies at Prince George's Community College and the Upright Citizens Brigade. After relocating to New York City, she appeared in CollegeHumor sketches before moving to Los Angeles in 2009, where she made her film debut in Jamesy Boy.

In 2016, Salazar directed and starred in the short film Good Crazy, which earned a nomination at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2023, she joined the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
