Noé Hernández
Biography
Noé Hernández Álvarez was born on November 10, 1969, in Atitalaquía, Hidalgo, to agricultural workers. His journey into the arts began at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, where he pursued a degree in Dramatic Arts, initially considering a career in law before his passion for acting took precedence. After completing his studies in 1994, he spent seven years teaching high school in Toluca while also founding an experimental theater group. His ambition eventually led him to Mexico City to pursue film acting.
Hernández dedicated three years to attending numerous casting calls, which paid off when he landed his first commercial and a minor role in the 2007 film Propiedad Ajena. His breakout came in 2008 with a supporting role in Espiral, followed by a brief appearance in the critically acclaimed Sin Nombre, directed by Cary Fukunaga. He continued to build his filmography with notable performances in Vaho, Somos Lo Que Hay, and El Infierno, all released in 2010.
A pivotal moment in Hernández's career occurred during the filming of Sin Nombre, when he met director Gerardo Naranjo, who later cast him in the lead role of the 2011 film Miss Bala, which tells the story of a beauty pageant contestant portrayed by Stephanie Sigman. Most recently, in 2024, Hernández earned the prestigious Ariel Award for Best Actor for his stellar performance in Kokoloko, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in Mexican cinema.
