Katrin Juliet Cartlidge (15 May 1961 – 7 September 2002) was a talented English actress known for her remarkable performances on both stage and screen. She made her television debut as Lucy Collins in the popular Channel 4 soap opera Brookside, which aired from 1982 to 1983. Cartlidge's career gained significant momentum when she starred in Mike Leigh's critically acclaimed film Career Girls in 1997, earning her the prestigious Evening Standard Film Award for Best Actress.
Throughout her career, she collaborated with Leigh on several notable projects, including Naked (1993), a gritty exploration of urban life, and the groundbreaking film Breaking the Waves (1996), which showcased her ability to tackle complex emotional roles. Cartlidge also appeared in the internationally acclaimed film Before the Rain (1994), which won numerous awards for its poignant storytelling, and From Hell (2001), a dark thriller based on the infamous Jack the Ripper murders.
