Gerald Okamura
Biography
Gerald Okamura, born in 1940, is an accomplished American martial artist and stunt performer known for his influence in the film industry. His journey in martial arts commenced in 1953 with judo, and over the years, he has expanded his expertise to include kendo, aikido, and taekwondo. He currently holds a 5th degree black belt in Kung Fu San Soo, trained under the guidance of the esteemed Jimmy H. Woo.
In 1975, Okamura transitioned into the world of stunt work, marking the beginning of a prolific career. He achieved his first credited acting role in 1980 and has since made appearances in 39 feature films. His notable performances can be seen in cult classics such as *Big Trouble in Little China*, *Samurai Cop*, *Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance*, *Ninja Academy*, *9½ Ninjas!*, *Ring of Fire*, *Blade*, and *G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra*.
In addition to his film work, Okamura has also made memorable television appearances, portraying characters like Kai-Ogi in *Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers*, a sensei in *Power Rangers Wild Force*, and Chao Chong in *VR Troopers*. Beyond acting and stunts, he is recognized for his innovative weapon designs, which have been showcased in numerous films and publications worldwide.
