Kaoru Yachigusa
Biography
Kaoru Yachigusa (八千草 薫, Yachigusa Kaoru; January 6, 1931 – October 24, 2019) was a renowned actress hailing from Osaka Prefecture, Japan. She began her artistic journey with the Takarazuka Revue, where she performed from 1947 until 1957. Following her tenure with the revue, Yachigusa transitioned into a successful career in film, television, and narration, showcasing her versatile talents across various mediums. Throughout her career, she received several prestigious Japanese accolades, including the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1997, the Order of the Rising Sun, 4th Class, Gold Rays with Rosette in 2003, and the Tanaka Kinuyo Prize at the Mainichi Film Awards in 2004.
On October 24, 2019, Kaoru Yachigusa passed away at the age of 88 due to pancreatic cancer in a hospital in Tokyo. Her contributions to Japanese entertainment and her remarkable performances have left a lasting legacy in the industry.
