Betty Gleadle, born on December 11, 1921, and passing away on December 24, 2016, is better known by her stage name, Liz Smith. This esteemed English character actress garnered recognition for her memorable performances in a variety of BBC sitcoms. Notably, she portrayed Annie Brandon in "I Didn't Know You Cared" from 1975 to 1979. Her talent shone through as she played the quirky sisters Bette and Belle in "2point4 Children" between 1991 and 1999. Liz also brought to life the charming Letitia Cropley in "The Vicar of Dibley" from 1994 to 1996 and the beloved "Nana," Norma Speakman, in "The Royle Family," a role she reprised in 2006 after her initial run from 1998 to 2000.
