Jill Scott
Biography
Jill Heather Scott, born on April 4, 1972, is a multifaceted American artist celebrated for her contributions as a singer, songwriter, actress, poet, and model. She burst onto the music scene with her debut album, *Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1*, in 2000, which achieved platinum status and set the stage for her subsequent works. Her following albums, *Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2* (2004) and *The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3* (2007), both garnered gold certifications, solidifying her position in the industry.
In addition to her musical success, Scott made her cinematic debut in 2007 with roles in *Hounddog* and Tyler Perry's *Why Did I Get Married?*. Her talent extended to television when she took on a leading role in the BBC/HBO series *The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency*, adapted from Alexander McCall Smith's novels. After a brief hiatus from recording, she released her fourth album, *The Light of the Sun*, in 2011, followed by her fifth studio album, *Woman*, in 2015. In 2014, she portrayed Deidre "Dee Dee" Jenkins, the second wife of James Brown, in the biopic *Get on Up*. More recently, starting in 2018, Scott appeared as Lady Eve in the DC Comics series *Black Lightning*, showcasing her diverse range of talents across multiple entertainment mediums.
