Don Rickles
Biography
Donald Jay Rickles (May 8, 1926 – April 6, 2017) was a prominent American comedian and actor, widely recognized for his distinctive style of insult comedy. Throughout his career, he appeared in several notable films, such as Run Silent, Run Deep (1958), Enter Laughing (1967), Kelly's Heroes (1970), and Casino (1995).
Rickles showcased his talent on television as well. Between 1976 and 1978, he starred in the NBC sitcom C.P.O. Sharkey for two seasons. Before this role, he had already been featured in two self-titled half-hour shows. The first was an ABC variety program, The Don Rickles Show, which aired in 1968, followed by a CBS sitcom of the same name in 1972.
Known for his quick wit and sharp tongue, Rickles gained a reputation as a master of roast-style humor, often playfully insulting both celebrities and audience members. His comedic approach not only won him a loyal fan base but also influenced a generation of comedians who followed in his footsteps.
