Jūzō Itami (1933–1997) was a prominent Japanese actor who transitioned into a highly acclaimed screenwriter and film director. Over the years, he earned recognition from critics as one of Japan's finest directors, often compared to the legendary Akira Kurosawa. Itami's filmography includes ten feature-length films and a short film, all of which he penned himself.
