Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, widely recognized as Akon, was born on April 16, 1973. He is an American multifaceted artist known for his contributions as a singer, rapper, songwriter, businessman, record producer, and actor. Akon gained significant attention in 2004 with the release of "Locked Up," the lead single from his debut album, *Trouble*, which marked the beginning of his ascent in the music industry.
