Garrett Morris
Biography
Garrett Gonzalez Morris, born on February 1, 1937, stands at 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall, and is a celebrated American actor and comedian. He gained fame as a member of the original cast of the iconic sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, where he showcased his talent from 1975 to 1980.
Morris's artistic journey began in his early years as a church choir singer, and he honed his musical skills at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music. He earned his degree from Dillard University in 1958, setting the stage for a vibrant career. In the early days of his profession, he performed as a soloist with the Harry Belafonte Singers and graced the Broadway stage in several musicals, including Hallelujah, Baby! and Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death.
In addition to his theater work, Morris made his mark in film, portraying a high school teacher in the 1975 classic Cooley High and taking on a supporting role as a police sergeant in The Anderson Tapes (1970). Before fully committing to his acting career, he also spent time in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he worked as a postal carrier. Morris's diverse experiences have enriched his performances and contributed to his enduring legacy in the entertainment industry.
