Ian Hunter (June 13, 1900 – September 22, 1975) was a notable British character actor renowned for his diverse roles across film and television. Throughout his prolific career, he captivated audiences with his performances in a variety of classic films. Some of his most memorable roles include his performance alongside Bette Davis in "That Certain Woman" (1937), portraying King Richard the Lionheart in "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938), and playing Captain Reginald Crewe in "The Little Princess" (1939). Additionally, he took on the role of Dr. Lanyon in the 1941 adaptation of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
Hunter's connection to the Robin Hood saga continued with his portrayal of Sir Richard of the Lea in the 1955 television series "The Adventures of Robin Hood," where he brought depth and charisma to the character in a recurring role.
