Henry Rowland, originally named Heinrich Wilhelm von Bock, was born on December 28, 1913, and passed away on April 26, 1984. He made a name for himself as a prominent American actor in both film and television.
Rowland's journey began with his father, who emigrated from Germany before World War I and later became a German professor at the University of Nebraska. After the war, Rowland received his early education in Germany but eventually returned to the United States to pursue his passion for acting, studying in Pasadena.
His distinctive Teutonic features made him a sought-after actor for various roles, particularly during the wartime film era. Rowland’s filmography includes notable appearances in classics such as *Casablanca* and Russ Meyer's cult classic *Supervixens*. He was also featured in the 1944 musical film *Winged Victory*, where he appeared as an American flight surgeon, credited as Corporal Henry Rowland. In his later years, he continued to embody Germanic roles, such as an Amish farmer in *The Frisco Kid* (1979).
On television, Rowland showcased his talent in several Western series, including *Annie Oakley*, *Brave Eagle*, *The Lone Ranger*, *Zorro*, *The Rifleman*, and *Gunsmoke*.
