David Prowse, MBE (July 1, 1935 – November 29, 2020), was a prominent English bodybuilder, weightlifter, and actor, best recognized for embodying Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. Born and raised in Bristol, he received his education at Bristol Grammar School. In addition to his iconic role in film, Prowse gained fame in the UK for portraying the Green Cross Code Man, promoting road safety to children. His impressive physique and commanding presence made him a memorable figure in both the fitness and entertainment industries, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to resonate with fans around the world.
