David Joseph Manners, originally named Rauff de Ryther Duan Acklom, was born on April 30, 1900, and passed away on December 23, 1998. This Canadian-American actor is best remembered for his iconic role as John Harker in the 1931 horror classic, Dracula, directed by Todd Browning. His portrayal in this film helped solidify his status as a prominent figure in the early horror genre.

In 1932, Manners continued to make an impact on the silver screen by taking on the role of archaeologist Frank Whemple in Universal Pictures' The Mummy, another notable pre-Code thriller that showcased his acting prowess. Throughout his brief but significant career in film, Manners became associated with the suspenseful and supernatural narratives that captivated audiences of the time.

In 1936, Manners made the decision to step away from filmmaking, marking the end of his cinematic journey.
