Biography

Paul Young, a distinguished Scottish actor and television presenter, was born on July 3, 1944, in Edinburgh. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor, making his film debut in the 1955 production, *Geordie*. In 1965, he transitioned into radio, becoming an offshore pirate DJ and famously being the inaugural voice of Radio Scotland at its launch. During this time, he hosted the widely appreciated *Ceilidh* program, which celebrated traditional Scottish music.

As the 1960s progressed, Young shifted his focus back to acting, earning recognition for his performances across a variety of plays, films, and television dramas. In addition to his acting accolades, Young is an avid fisherman and has shared his passion for the sport through various television programs. His journey in this realm began with *Hooked on Scotland* for the BBC, followed by *Hooked on Scottish* for ITV. More recently, he hosted *Hooked*, which aired on the satellite and cable channel Discovery Home and Leisure.
