Biography

Jean-Paul Rouve, born on January 26, 1967, in Dunkerque, France, is a notable French actor and director. The only child in his family, Rouve was introduced to the world of theater during his schooling, which sparked his passion for the performing arts. He honed his craft at the national drama center of Nord-Pas de Calais and even founded an amateur theater group. After completing his baccalaureate, he moved to Lille to pursue studies in information and communication sciences. In 1989, with encouragement from a friend, Emmanuelle Lepoutre, he enrolled in a course taught by Isabelle Nanty at the prestigious Cours Florent, leading him to stay in Paris to focus on acting.

Rouve gained widespread recognition in the 1990s as a member of the comedic troupe, Robins des Bois. He solidified his presence in French cinema throughout the 2000s, winning the César Award for Most Promising Actor in 2003 for his role in the historical drama Monsieur Batignole, directed by Gérard Jugnot. He received a César nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 2005 for his portrayal of a Michel Polnareff lookalike in the comedy Podium, directed by Yann Moix. His career continued to rise with performances in films like Nos jours bonheurs (2006) and La Môme (2007).

In the 2010s, Rouve became well-known for his role as Jeff Tuche in the popular comedy series Les Tuche, directed by Olivier Baroux, while also establishing himself as a director with films such as When I Will Be Little (2012), Les Souvenirs (2014), and Lola et ses frères (2018).
