Kasi Lemmons, born Karen Lemmons on February 24, 1961, is a distinguished American director, screenwriter, and actress. She burst onto the directing scene with her critically acclaimed debut, *Eve's Bayou* (1997), a film that showcased her unique storytelling abilities and earned her recognition in the industry. Lemmons continued to build her reputation with a series of notable films, including *Talk to Me* (2007), *Black Nativity* (2013), and *Harriet* (2019), the latter of which received widespread praise for its powerful portrayal of abolitionist Harriet Tubman. Most recently, she directed *Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody* (2022) and the Netflix limited series *Self Made* (2020), illustrating her versatility and commitment to telling compelling stories.
